Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora has expressed strong displeasure at not being invited to the key distribution event of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation's Aashray scheme. The scheme is meant for sanitation workers. Deora did not receive an invitation as an MP to the government event held in Colaba, South Mumbai. He conveyed his displeasure to Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide.
On Friday, the municipal corporation handed over keys to beneficiaries of the Aashray scheme in Colaba. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were present. Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Mayor Ritu Tawde, Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi, the corporation's group leaders and officials were also at the event.
However, Deora was not invited. He has twice been MP from the South Mumbai Lok Sabha seat and is a former Union minister. He is currently a Rajya Sabha MP. Despite this, Deora expressed surprise at not receiving an invitation. He recorded his displeasure in a letter to Commissioner Ashwini Bhide.
In the letter, Deora wrote that local public representatives should be given due respect at events for development projects. He expressed hope that protocol would be followed at government events in future and that the Mumbai Municipal Corporation would extend invitations and full respect to public representatives.
