Flight schedules may change as both runways at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport close for six hours for annual post-monsoon maintenance.

Air travellers flying out of or into Mumbai on November 19, 2026 may face changes to their flight schedules. Operations on both runways at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will be halted for six hours that day.

The closure will be in force between 11 am and 5 pm. During this period, both runways, RWY 09/27 and RWY 14/32, will be unavailable for use. The closure is part of the airport's annual post-monsoon maintenance programme.

Explaining why the runways are being closed, Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) said the maintenance is meant to ensure operational safety, reliable operations and compliance with international aviation standards.

The work will include a detailed inspection of the runways and repair of the surface. A technical assessment of runway lighting, markings and the drainage system is also part of it. The annual programme is carried out after the monsoon so that the airport's infrastructure remains in safe operating condition.

Passengers who have to depart from or arrive at Mumbai airport between 11 am and 5 pm on November 19 are advised to check their flight status directly with their airline. They should confirm departure and arrival times before leaving home for the airport, as airlines may change their schedules because of the runway closure.

Airlines have been informed in advance. Airport authorities have issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) about the runway closure at the scheduled time. MIAL is also coordinating in advance with airlines and other stakeholders on changes to flight schedules and manpower planning.

The aim of this advance coordination is to reduce inconvenience to passengers during the six-hour maintenance window. Those travelling on November 19 have nonetheless been asked to keep taking updates from their airline and to check for any last-minute change to their flight.
