At a Diwali Pahat in Dadar, the Sugi family announced more than Rs 1 crore for farmers, with a cheque handed to Makarand Anaspure for Naam Foundation.

Diwali Pahat is a morning music programme held on Diwali, so that everyone's Diwali is filled with music. Diwali is called a festival of enthusiasm, joy and vitality, and happiness shows on every face, from children to the elderly. Along with sweets, firecrackers, rangoli and akash kandil lanterns, the Diwali Pahat is held every year.

Diwali Pahat programmes were held at many places this year too. But drought conditions across the state are so severe that the question was being raised whether it was right to celebrate Diwali with enthusiasm. The matter was under discussion.

Meanwhile, the Sugi family, which organises a Diwali Pahat in Dadar every year, took an important decision for farmers. The decision was announced at the Diwali Pahat programme itself.

An amount of more than Rs 1 crore was announced for farmers. The sum was handed over on stage by cheque to Makarand Anaspure for Naam Foundation. Another sum of Rs 51 lakh was given to Parijat Foundation. The Sugi family is being widely praised for the decision, and people are also expressing their gratitude to it.

The list of dignitaries present was long. Rahul Deshpande's singing held the whole venue spellbound. The performance by Sankarshan Karhade and Abhi Munde moved the audience. Swapnil Joshi was also on stage. The presence of Culture Minister Ashish Shelar and Amit Thackeray added to the occasion. Even so, the Sugi family is the most talked about, because of the money given for farmers.
