R. S. Mundle Dharampeth Arts and Commerce College in Nagpur recently held the welcome ceremony and student council installation for the 2026-27 academic year. The event was marked by old memories, a showcase of student talent and the start of a new leadership. Senior journalist Vaibhav Ganjapure attended as a judge. He was impressed by the students' talent and their struggles, and said the event was unforgettable for him as well.
On stepping into the campus, Ganjapure recalled many memories of his school days. His school and the college are in the same area, so returning was an emotional experience for him. The fragrance of old memories and the enthusiasm of the new generation gave the event added significance.
Students presented a variety of art forms and won over the audience. Their confidence, creativity, distinctive presentation and hard work were evident. Every performance had something special, which made it difficult for the judges to pick winners.
Ganjapure chose the winners along with co-judge Sonal Lohit. As each student's art showed individuality and quality, many factors had to be weighed in making the selection.
Another aspect of the event stood out. Many students are studying under financial strain, and some work part-time to meet the cost of education. The determination of these students, who balance work and study while moving towards their dreams, is inspiring.
The students showed that however difficult the financial situation, one can move ahead on the strength of hard work, confidence and the right opportunity. Winning an award is one form of success, but recognising one's own talent, presenting it with confidence and accepting new opportunities are equally important.
The student council installation was also held with enthusiasm at the same event. The newly appointed office-bearers of the student council took up their responsibilities. It is not merely a ceremony of taking charge but the beginning of building leadership qualities and contributing to the college's progress.
Leadership does not mean merely holding a post. It means working responsibly, taking colleagues along and playing a constructive role in the institution's development. The expectation voiced at the event was that students would use this opportunity to shape their personalities.
Ganjapure thanked the college principal, Prof. Dr. Manjushree Sardeshpande, for inviting him. He also thanked all the teachers who extended the invitation, particularly Smita Kalikar, and congratulated the entire college community that worked to make the event a success.
Ganjapure said that as he returned from the college, he carried the fragrance of old memories and pride in the new generation's talent. When hidden talents among students get the right platform and encouragement, they get a chance to prove their potential, he said. Such initiatives build students' confidence, develop leadership qualities and give fresh motivation for the road ahead.
The event showed a fine blend of old memories, today's talent and tomorrow's dreams. The hope expressed on the occasion was that students would realise their dreams on the strength of knowledge, hard work, leadership and confidence.
