Mumbai-bound traffic on Samruddhi Mahamarg to halt three times daily, an hour each, from Oct 26

Traffic heading towards Mumbai on the Hindu Hridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg will be stopped for an hour, three times a day, between October 26 and November 6, 2026. The stoppages are needed for safety work to prevent stones and debris from falling onto the expressway. The work will be carried out under the supervision of the officials concerned.

The restriction will apply on the stretch between the Bharvir interchange and the Igatpuri interchange. Protective netting will be installed near the mouth of a tunnel and on hazardous hill slopes, to reduce the danger that falling rocks pose to motorists.

Under the schedule approved by the highway police, Mumbai-bound vehicles will be stopped every day from 10 am to 11 am, from 1 pm to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 5 pm. Vehicles will not be allowed to move ahead for the full hour each time.

The restriction will remain in force for the entire period from October 26 to November 6. The temporary stoppages have been put in place so that workers securing the slopes get safe time to carry out the work.

Motorists using the stretch have been advised to plan their journeys around the closure timings and to allow extra time on the way.

The netting is meant to hold loose stones and debris on the hazardous slopes so that they do not fall onto the expressway. This will improve the safety of vehicles passing through the hilly section.

Those travelling towards Mumbai on these dates should be prepared for delays and check the latest traffic updates before setting out.
