Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently made an important statement. He said that when an airport comes up anywhere, it becomes an airport that drives economic momentum. But if development is not done properly, development will still happen, he said, only in a haphazard and ill-planned manner, and the whole area will grow chaotically on a large scale.
For this reason, it was decided to bring the NAINA project to the area, and work on it was begun. According to Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde had approved it while serving as Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister. He said he had also understood why the work was not moving. Forty per cent of the land is still to be given. But farmers did not know where this land would be allotted, so they were fearful. In view of this, CIDCO has been given the authority to make corrections in the final map and present it again.
Fadnavis said the bhoomipujan would be held on the day farmers were handed the papers for their land, and that is what was done. He said, "We three promise that we are with you until your question is resolved." Devendra Fadnavis gave this word to the farmers.
He said both MLAs of the area are legislators who follow up persistently to get work done. Fadnavis also congratulated CIDCO, which has brought out a book on NAINA containing all the information.
He acknowledged that some difficulties do arise, and that they persisted for two years. He and Shinde resolved them in a meeting. Fadnavis said the first right over the opportunity that has been created should belong to the sons of the soil. The third Mumbai will work as a growth engine for Maharashtra. Maharashtra is the only state where separate growth engines have been created, he said.
Among these, Thane, Raigad, Navi Mumbai and Palghar are the biggest growth engines. Coming to the Navi Mumbai airport from Mumbai, there will not be a single signal from Worli to the Atal Setu, so the journey will be signal-free. Fadnavis said that by linking the various projects together, efforts would be made to eventually bring drinking water to every part of the area.
